Sitting may be hazardous to health
And regular exercise may not off-set the effect!
A four year study appearing in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology followed more than 4500 participants tracking their “screen time”.
Scientists determined that those who spent 4 or more hours being entertained by a TV or computer were 48% more likely to die from any cause. And were 125% more likely to experience a coronary problem.
Taking part in regular physical activity did not seem to help.
“Recreational sitting, as reflected by television/screen viewing time, is related to raised mortality and cardiovascular disease risk, regardless of activity participation”.
