Humans are AMAZING !
We have changed the face of the earth. We are never satisfied. We push, and we test the limits of our environment, our inventions and, our minds and bodies.
Consider: the Ironman Triathlon
(From Wikipedia) Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike, and a 26.2-mile run, raced in that order without a break.
Now… many athletes do the Ironman every year. But I had never heard of one doing it with a broken shoulder, until my friend; Scott Odorisi did exactly that in 2011 at Lake Placid, NY.
The story: Scott had completed the swim, and had just started the bike event when another rider bumped him and threw him to the ground. Disoriented and in severe pain from his shoulder, Scott considered the possibility that he might have no choice but to quit the competition. But after a few moments remembering the hard work, and many months of training that brought him to that day, his human drive kicked in. Somehow, Scott was able to fix his bike so that it was at least ride-able, and then, to mount and ride the bike, his arm hanging useless at his side!
Pain or not, Scott was on the move, determined to finish what he had started.
Scott’s story exemplifies the toughness, and the “hero”, that is latent in every one of us. Pushed to our limit by seemingly insurmountable odds, we can find the guts, and the strength, to get the job done!

Hope you enjoy.
