Black Bean Brownies

Posted by on September 23, 2013 in Nutrition / Food / Recipes | 0 comments

This easy recipe starts with a box brownie mix, a can of black beans, and water. It’s a bit more nutritious then the box instructions, and delicious!

Brownie mix, black beans, food processorGather together:

  • One 18 or 19 ounce box brownie mix,
  • One 15.5 ounce can of black beans well rinsed to remove salt,
  • 1/2 cup water,
  • Food processer,
  •  9″ X 13″ baking pan sprayed with baking spray

Procedure:

Beans into processor  Pour beans into a colander and rinse thoroughly.

In food processor, puree the beans with the water.

In medium bowl, mix pureed beans and brownie mix

  Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake at 350′ for 25 to 30 minutes.

Brownies are done when batter is firm to the touch in center of the pan. Cool completely. Serves 20.

These brownies are not “health food”.

In fact, the number one ingredient is sugar! But on those occasions that you need a chocolate fix, these babys will do the trick, and  save you calories and fat in the process. Nutritional numbers shown are my calculation.
